Kyle Hobson is a young man. He has a rare disease called “Osteochondritis Dissecans” or OD which is a joint disorder.

Hobson says that OD is caused by a lack of blood flow to the bone under the cartilage. The loss the blood flow causes the bone to die or crack. There is a low chance to get OD.

“Only 1 out of every 10,000 people gets this disease each year,” said Hobson

The repetitive trauma from football on his knee has caused him to have one of his femurs joint to break off his kneecap. He has had one surgery to take out the broken and shattered pieces of bones in his knee, but know he needs a donor to cure his disease.

“The really depressing side of this is missing my senior year of football,” Says Kyle.

After the surgery, his doctor said he won’t be able to put weight on it for two months. For six months, he will not be able to go up inclines. He will also be able to go to rehab to help him be able to walk again faster.

“I won’t be able to play sports for a year and will miss out on my senior year of football,” said Hobson, “Other physical activities will be affected too, but my vocation won’t be affected because I want to go to school for audio engineering.”
