To some, soil is dirt that has no meaning. But to some of the members of the PHS Agriculture Department, it has plenty. A team of ag students participated in the Soil Evaluation contest in Crawford County on September 13, 2016.
The participants include seniors Logan Love and Thomas Gilliatt, junior Elizabeth Lindley, sophomores Nick Padgett, Mason Mink, Audrey Manship, Chandlyer Behr, Harley Bush and Tony Lowe and freshmen Murphy Laws and Jarrett Hammond. Junior high members who went on the trip were Dalton McManaway, Glen Rankin and Elizabeth Workman.
Students evaluate soil based on characteristics, properties and best uses. This event was held by the Area 2 Purdue Extension and 4-H agents as well as local agriculture teachers. Agriculture teacher Kyle Woolston prepared students for this event.
