On October 13, Paoli will be having its second annual service day. Throughout the day, students will be doing some sort of service for their community along with teachers of PHS. English teachers Jaye Brewster and Brooke Goerres plan to head down to Throop with students to read to elementary kids. When students are not reading, they will be making fall decorations for the nursing home in Paoli.
“I chose to do this project because it was so successful last year. Students enjoyed their time with Throop students, while Throop teachers enjoyed having them,” said Brewster.
Brewster hopes that the students that have chosen this project gain an understanding for the power of mentorship once the day is through.
“These elementary students look up to them, and it is wonderful to see this connection taking place while high school students are reading to them,” said Brewster.
