All around the world, people spend holidays by themselves and don’t get to see their family. Here in our community, we realized this was a problem.
Several years ago, Ruth Farlow Uyesugi started a Community Dinner which takes place on Thanksgiving Day at the Community Center. Now that Uyesugi is unable to help due to her health, Sarann Weeks is in charge of the dinner.
The National Honor Society puts in the hard work to help out at this large event along with Weeks.
“The Honor Society has assisted in this for many years. We deliver meals to homebound people unable to attend at the Community Center and we serve to those who can,” said NHS mentor, Jaye Brewster.
This year, the dinner will be taking place at the Community Center from 11:30 am to 1 pm on Thanksgiving Day. If you are a member of any organization helping out with the Community Dinner, go out and serve the people in our community.
