The Indiana REMC holds a calendar contest each year for any Indiana students in grades K through 12, and art students at PHS are participating.
“Students are to illustrate the month of the year that corresponds with their grade in school. For example 1st graders draw for January, seniors illustrate December, etc.,” said art teacher Chris Jones.
After winners are selected, they are notified around late April or early May. Calendars are then printed and distributed to all REMC customers.
“The winners have their art printed in the calendar for all REMC customers to see. Each grade level winner is also awarded a $200 cash prize. One entry is chosen as Artist of the Year and receives an additional $100. Several Honorable Mentions are also chosen and awarded $75 cash prizes as well,” said Jones.
The drawing 2 classes participate in this contest as an assignment, and Jones sends their work in to the Indianapolis REMC office. Although only the drawing 2 students are required, other students are allowed to enter. They should have their drawings submitted by March 20, 2020.
