This month the varsity cheer squad held a cheer clinic for grades K-6 at Throop elementary. The participants will be performing at the varsity boys basketball game against the Salem Lions on February 11 between the two games.
“We always have a great time hosting the clinic and this year we have 83 students participating,” said Coach Heather Nichols.
Participants from the clinic will be performing two cheers, a chant, pep band dances and stunts.
Cheerleaders should arrive between 6:15-6:30 p.m. and meet in the lower gym and should wear their clinic t-shirt, shorts and comfortable shoes to the game. Parents should pick up their daughter in the lower gym immediately after the performance. Please make sure someone is there to pick up your cheerleader.
“By hosting a clinic we hope to keep the younger girls interested in cheerleading so that someday they might be cheering on the varsity squad,” said Nichols.
