Meet the Faces
PHS has six students earning medical certifications and licenses at the end of this school year. We asked them different questions about their experiences with health science classes. Here are their responses.

Abigail Bruner
What inspired you to look into the medical field?
I was inspired to go into the medical field because I have always loved science and hands-on work. My specific future career plans were also inspired by medical conditions experienced by a family member.
What has been your favorite part of taking health science classes?
My favorite part of the class is hearing the residents say that they feel better after we help them.
How do you plan to use your certification in your future career? What are your career plans?
My future career plans are to major in public health and then go to a master’s program to become a physician assistant. I plan to use my certification to gain experience hours to get into a physician assistant school.
Kyrsten Fehribach
What inspired you to look into the medical field?
I enjoy learning new things and feeling like I can make a difference in people’s lives.
What has been your favorite part of taking health science classes?
I enjoy learning new things about healthcare. I have learned so much more with hands-on experiences. I am excited about all these accomplishments that are to come!
How do you plan to use your certification in your future career? What are your career plans?
I’m going to get a job at our local nursing home or other health buildings near us and save money over the summer for college. I will use this certificate to save some money, then I will attend a four-year college or university and receive my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, I plan to work my way up the totem pole and get certifications and experience in other positions.
Mackenzie Gilliatt
What inspired you to look into the medical field?
I’m not really sure what made me want to join the medical field. I just know I’ve always wanted to be part of a growing field.
What has been your favorite part of taking health science classes?
My favorite part so far has definitely been spending time with the other girls because we all get along so well and it’s nice to know other people are going through the same thing.
How do you plan to use your certification in your future career? What are your career plans?
This helps introduce me to the medical field and it shows all of us what it really takes and what our futures will be if we continue to pursue the medical field. I plan to attend Vincennes University and become an RN after doing a two-year program.
Savannah Key
What inspired you to look into the medical field?
I like to help and take care of people. I’ve always enjoyed math and science and a medical career is a good way to incorporate them into my future.
What has been your favorite part of taking health science classes?
I really enjoy getting to learn with my friends and getting to know them better. I also love making even the slightest difference in a resident’s life.
How do you plan to use your certification in your future career? What are your career plans?
I plan to CNA for a few years through college. I eventually want to get my BSN to be an registered nurse. I have also been debating on being a labor and delivery nurse. Becoming a travel nurse is also something I am interested in.
Mackenzie Neal
What inspired you to look into the medical field?
I know myself better than anyone else and a job at the desk is not for me. I love a change of pace and wish for a career that brings me something new every day. I’ve realized I have a great passion for the healthcare field.
What has been your favorite part of taking health science classes?
I’m going to use this certificate to save money over summer and I will receive a significant pay raise. Soon after, I will attend a four-year university and receive my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, which I may wish to build off of and become a Nurse Practitioner. I plan to start as a CNA and work my way up the totem pole.
How do you plan to use your certification in your future career? What are your career plans?
My future career plans are to major in public health and then go to a master’s program to become a physician assistant. I plan to use my certification to gain.
Raven Urbano
What inspired you to look into the medical field?
What inspired me to want to go to the medical field was my passion for wanting to help people, because when I was sick when I was younger, and then losing my grandma in 2018 and there was nothing I could do to help.
What has been your favorite part of taking health science classes?
My favorite part is knowing what I can do to help someone in need.
How do you plan to use your certification in your future career? What are your career plans?
I plan to use this certificate in the future by trying to make a difference and maybe be able to save lives like mine was. My career plans are to go into something with making medicines like a Pharmaceutical Scientist.
