On Wednesday, April 29, tryouts will take place for the elementary, junior high, and high school cheer squads for the 2026-2027 school year. Tryouts will take place in the PHS upper gym. Interested cheerleaders will pick a time slot to try out between 3:30-6:30. Sign-ups to pick your time slot will be sent to your email soon. Students planning to try out should pick up a packet from the front office and fill out the Google form via email or by scanning the QR code on the packet. The Google Form should have been completed by April 10.
There will also be tryout clinics on April 15 and 22 from 5-6:30 p.m. These are optional clinics where participants can receive help learning the material. At this clinic, time will be set aside for potential cheerleaders to practice their skills and get pointers and help from the coaches.
“To be prepared for tryouts, participants will need to learn the chants and cheer shared on April 15. They also need to be ready to showcase their jumps. Elementary will do a toe touch and tuck jump. Junior high will do a toetouch, front hurdle, and pike. The Varsity will do a double toe, front hurdle, and pike. All cheerleaders are required to do tumbling. Most importantly, participants need to be in good academic standing, be a positive role model, and SHINE with spirit and energy at tryouts!” said Cheer Coach Liana Baker.
Tryouts are closed to everyone except judges, coaches, and participants. Participants may use the cafe space to wait for their tryout time. Students should wear a plain white, purple, or gold shirt and plain shorts. Hair should be completely pulled up, no jewelry should be worn, and appropriate shoes should be worn.
