The annual Solo and Ensemble contest returned this semester to allow musicians and singers to perform and showcase their skills in individual competition. Musicians competed on January 28 while the choir students competed on February 4.

Qualifying for the Choral State Music Solo and Ensemble contest on Senior Wyatt Blankenship, junior Braeden Campbell, sophomore Mary Cook and sophomore Rhiannon Pinnick sang their way to State. The students will travel to Perry Meridian High School on February 18 to compete at State.

Senior A.J. Lopez qualified for the upcoming state contest in two different categories: alto saxophone solo and tuba solo. Senior Brody Wilcox’s performances in the soprano saxophone solo and baritone saxophone solo also earned him his spot at State. For his multi-percussion solo, junior Cameron Apple will continue to state. Lopez, Wilcox and sophomore Christian Longest will be performing at State after a successful run as a saxophone trio. Each will compete at North Central High School on February 25.
