The Angel Tree is a resource for families who need help providing Christmas presents for students in their homes. SCICR Youth Services Bureau started the Angel Tree at the high school over 16 years ago to help junior high and high school students. Because most Angel Trees stop providing resources to kids between 12 and 14 years old, many high school students are left out. When PHS Family Consultant Jodi Henry got to PHS, she had the option to keep the tree going or to stop doing it, and she decided to continue so that she could help as many people as possible. Before doing anything, Henry has to find sponsors for these angels. To get angels on the tree, she uses social media, asks school staff, and word of mouth. She gets these referrals in November so she has time to get them on the tree to be sponsored. All of the gifts are returned to the front office by December 16 and pickup begins December 17. This year, Henry had 90 angels on the tree and they were all sponsored, but the most she has ever had was 126, and she hopes to get up to that amount again this year. People can get involved in helping with the Angel Tree by requesting information on an angel, making purchases to help that angel, and ordering things online for the angels to have delivered to the school. Another way you can help is to order a Walmart pick-up and bring it to the school once you have picked it up, or they can donate through Venmo or gift cards if they do not want to shop. Someone can become an angel by contacting Jodi Henry and seeing if it is possible. If so, you can fill out a ticket about your likes, needs, wants, and
clothing sizes. You can fill out all of the information on there as specifically as you would like, to give the person shopping for you some ideas of what to get you. If you are interested in donating, becoming an angel in the future, or would just like more information, you can contact Henry or Paoli
