Art teacher Chris Jones has taught at PHS for 28 years. He has been the junior class sponsor for 18 of those years, helping plan multiple proms and Mr. PHS events. However, this year, he has taken on a new role within the school.

Jones has taken over the position of Booster Club sponsor for the 2022-2023 school year, taking over from last year’s sponsor, current librarian Rachel Miller.

For his first year as Booster Club sponsor, Jones has many new plans and ideas. He hopes to resurrect old traditions, as well as create new ones.

One new tradition this year is the Ram Can. Ram Can is the new mascot of Booster Club who makes appearances at PHS sporting events, dressing up for themes and helping to lead cheers. The mascot made his debut at the volleyball game against Bloomfield on August 22.

The Rams have already started their fall seasons and have had big turnouts from their classmates. The Booster Club has had a student section at several of the football games and volleyball games.

We’ve had a couple of games so far where our kids have come out and had a really good time cheering for their classmates. We have some really good senior leadership this year. I think kids are excited to be back in school and are hoping for a ‘normal’ school year where they can just enjoy their activities for a change,” said Jones.

With sports in full swing, Jones has several goals for members of the club throughout the year. He wants to see more student involvement and support during each season.

I want to see as many kids in attendance at our events as possible. I want to see our kids actively supporting their classmates with Spirit Weeks, Dress Up Days and hall decorations,” said Jones.

Booster Club recently elected Officers for the school year. Elected were: President Austin Benales, Vice President Clara Henderson, Secretary Jackie Crews, and Treasurer River Fleming.

“We are really excited to do a lot of fun things this year, like dress-up days and pep sessions. I hope that we have a lot of students participate and help spread school spirit here at PHS,” said Benales.

Any student in grades 7-12 can join Booster Club. In order to join, students must pay $2 to help cover for supplies for decorating and pep sessions. Any student that has purchased a Ram Herd pass for the 2022-2023 school year is automatically a member and does not have to pay fees.
