Earlier this week, ten PHS seniors were awarded the College Board National Recognition Program Award. This award is given only to students who get within a specific scoring range on the PSAT/NMSQT, and also meet very specific criteria, such as a 3.5 or higher GPA, growing up in a rural area, or be an African American, Hispanic American, or Indigenous, as well as taking the PSAT 10 in the Spring of 2021, and and least two distinct AP exams from 8th-10th grade.

Ten seniors were awarded this honor, including: Abigail Bruner, Adin Monroe, Alejandro Lopez, Ashleigh Garcia, Clara Henderson, Cora Austin, Jacklyn Crews, Marty Higgins, Masden Embry and River Fleming.

“The award is something that recognizes these students for their performance on the PSAT and AP exams in addition to their academic achievements, and gives them the opportunity to list this on college applications and scholarship applications,” said Guidance Counselor Rachel Robinson.

These students were only eligible due to scoring within the top ten percent on the PSAT.
