Midterm Election Fills Local Seats

On November 8, 5,500 Orange County citizens voted out of the 14,067 registered voters in this fall’s midterm election.

Out of those voters, 1,954 voted straight Republican tickets, 325 voted straight Democratic tickets and three voted straight Libertarian tickets. This year, Orange County transitioned out of District 9 and into District 8. Many names and positions were on the ballot.

The U.S. Representative elected for District 8 is Republican Larry D. Bushchon and the Indiana senator elected is Republican Todd Young.

More local elections took place as well. Lila J. Tucker, Julie L. Hopper, and Bill Hoke were all elected to the School Board.

The Paoli Township Trustee elected was Republican Glenda S. Campbell. Republicans Mary Lavern Boston, Jim Daughtery and Tim Lambdin were elected to the Paoli Township Board.

Republican Jack Hinkle Jr. ran for County Council District 3 without opposition. Republican Richard England ran for County Council District 4 without opposition. The elected State Representative for District 65 is Republican Chris May. Republican Stephan R. Bartells was elected as the State Representative for District 74 without opposition.

Steven L. Owen was elected to the 87th Circuit Court without opposition. Republican Holly N. Hudelson was elected as the Prosecuting Attorney for the 87th Circuit Court without opposition.

The County Sheriff elected without opposition is David D. Henderson. Marshall Noble was elected as the County Commissioner for District One without opposition. Chad Hager was elected for the County Council District One, and Catherine McBride Henderson was elected for the County Council District Two, both without opposition.
