Every year, many members of the band travel to the Solo and Ensemble Festival located at Jasper Middle School. This is an event held across the state of Indiana, in which junior high and high school students prepare solo pieces performed alone, and ensemble pieces utilizing three or more musicians, for a performance and adjudication. Students will receive either a gold, silver, bronze, or participation medal based on their performance.

The event is held this year on Saturday, January 28, starting at 8:30 a.m.

“This event teaches students the importance of individual responsibility.  There is no ‘hiding’ in the crowd when you play a solo. Our students are very successful at Solo and Ensemble because they understand that they have a responsibility to prepare themselves for the event and to represent the school and the band,” said Band Director Christian Karkosky.

Family members who are interested in attending should use the north or south entrance of the building. Jasper is asking no more than six family members to attend per student.
