On Saturday, the Rams varsity baseball team opened their season on the road at North Knox against the Warriors. The Rams won 15-10.

Head Coach Jeremy Payton shares how the Rams opened the game.

“It was a very cold and windy game. We came out and scored two runs in the first. We also gave up six,” said Payton.

The game went on and the Rams played solid for another six innings.

“As the game went on we scored in every inning except two. We continued to battle and exploded for seven runs in the top of the seventh,” said Payton.

The Rams had many contributors to their first win of the season.

“Trey Rominger got the win, he had four runs batted in (RBI). Treyvin Street was two for three, Cooper Spires was two for two with three runs and Tyler Hannon one for four with three RBI’s.  Raygar Minton was also  two for four and had two runs.  So all in all we were led by two freshmen, a senior and two juniors,” said Payton.

Hannon, who played third on varsity…

“It started off slow, but eventually we were able to get the bats going,” said Hannon.

The Rams may have a young team, but they do have a lot of options.

“The great thing about this season is we have depth and options.  If a guy is having a bad game we have others that can step in help.  It is great to get off to the season with a win on the road,” said Payton

The Rams will travel to Shoals to face off against the Jug Rox starting at 5 p.m.
