This year, Student Council Sponsor Miya Scott offered a formal wear fundraiser to help anyone interested in wearing a tux to Prom an easy way to rent and return an outfit. Scott worked with Cindy McAtee with Jim’s Formal Wear to raise funds for After Prom.

Thirty students signed up for time slots to meet with the Jim’s Formal Wear representative, who visited the school several times. Each boy had 30 minutes to get measured, try on a tux and pick out his style and color.

“The process was very smooth. I got in and got out,” said senior Brandon Cook.

Once Prom is over, the tux return process will be easy for students, if not easier than in previous years. The boys will change into their own clothes, put the tux in a bag, and give it to Scott before After Prom begins. McAtee will pick up the rentals on Sunday.

Scott said the event was a success and is considering doing the fundraiser again next year.

“We will probably do this fundraiser again, it’s an easy and convenient way for boys attending Prom to rent a tux,” said Scott.

The fundraiser raised $300 total for After Prom activities and prizes.
