On May 9 Paoli High School is hosting the annual Unified Champions, where students with and without disabilities come together to participate in inclusive sports and fitness programs in their communities.

About 100 students are going to participate from schools from all over Southern Indiana. The schools attending are: East Washington, West Washington, Springs Valley, Crawford County and Salem

“I’m really excited about spending the day with Jericho [Hopper] and run with her,” said sophomore Amber Schuley.
National Honor Society sends volunteers every year to help organize the event.

Every special education student that participates gets a non-disabled peer participating with them during the events.

“I think it’s a good opportunity to go out and be active in the community and see how our volunteer work has an impact on people and be meaningful, and can genuinely make someone’s day better. Unified Champions Day is also a great time for the community and that of surrounding schools to come together and make something special for special education students,” said Marty Higgins, NHS President.
