Parent-teacher conferences have never been done before at PHS, but that is subject to change soon.
Principal Ed Wagner has decided to hold Parent-teacher conferences on October 10, 2024, from 3:30-6 PM and October 11, 2024, from 4:45-7 PM. Conferences will be available to any high school and junior high families.
While there are limited spots available, any parent with concerns about their child can choose to meet with specific teachers. Teachers can also request a meeting with particular parents if they have concerns about the student.
The style of these conferences will be similar to Throop’s parent-teacher conferences, but not the same. Parents will be there at their conference time and meet with the teacher in the classroom. Parents will switch between all of the conferences they have scheduled that day.
“I see this as another valuable opportunity for parents to connect with our teachers. While we used to hold an open house before the school year began—and we still do, with some changes to allow for more time in the building—it’s not always sufficient. At the start of the year, teachers often don’t fully understand a student’s strengths or areas for improvement. This initiative will provide a chance for teachers to communicate more effectively with parents about what they observe to better support student success,” said Wagner.
