After Spring Break, the Rams spring sports went into full effect.
The varsity baseball, golf, and track and field teams have started practices, and schedules have been released.
The baseball team official practices started in early March. Head Coach Jeremy Payton, Assistant Coach Jeremy Reynolds, and senior Peyton Baker lead the team. Seniors this year include Baker, Garrett Hickman, and Hayden Bostock.
Last year, the team had a 12-9 season, and the team is working on adapting to the changes in the team and focus and having a steady, balanced team to prepare for the loss of this year’s seniors.
The varsity track and field team is led by Head Coach Cora Hall and Assistant Coach Jon Deaton. Official practices started for the team at beginning of March. The first meet on April 3 at Perry Central was rained out.
Varsity golf practice began on Monday, March 24. This year’s seniors include Jonny Shellenberger, a four-year varsity starter; Brian Fullington, also a four-year varsity starter; Carson Neal, a one-year varsity starter who played for four years; Josh Zapien, a two-year JV player; and Jaxson Reynolds, a one-year varsity starter. Last season, the golf team finished with a record of 20-25. The lowest team score achieved during the season was 173.
“This season, I would like to eliminate as many penalties as possible and just play smart golf for the whole round,” said Golf Coach Matt Wolfe.
