Tennis Takes on the Rangers in Season Opener

The Lady Rams will start off their season on Tuesday, April 4 at home against the Forest Park Rangers.

Last year, the team was 13-4. The team lost seniors Rylie Atkins, Amanda Bowles, Chelsea Deweese and Tinsley Moffatt.

Head Coach Tyla Whitfield shares her thoughts on this upcoming season.

“We have several girls returning that have quite a bit of experience. Some will be playing in new positions and some will play in familiar spots,” said Whitfield.

The team includes juniors Gracie Brown, Micaela MacDonald, Tessa Paendong, Devon Walton, Maddi Warren and Lina Zheng, sophomore Taylor Patton, freshmen Audrey Hall, Ava Hall and Aurora Hays. 

Warren, who will play number one singles tonight, hopes for team improvement.

“I hope to improve on working together and encouraging each other,” said Warren.

Brown, playing number three singles, reveals her goal this season.

“My goal this season is to stay confident and play the strongest I can at all times,” said Brown.

Playing number one doubles for the Lady Rams tonight will be juniors Micaela MacDonald and Lina Zheng, in the number two doubles spot will be freshmen Ava and Audrey Hall. 

Whitfield expresses her hopes for her team.

“We hope to build on the success we had last year and perform stronger in invitational,” said Whitfield.
