Tuesday night, the high school boys competed in the Student Council’s annual Macho Man competition. Each grade fielded a team to compete to win the championship and to have a chance to face the staff team. Each game played one set and the first team to 25 points won.
The first game saw the Senior Class face off against the Freshman Class. The senior team consisted of Trey Rominger, Jason Beavers, Willson Windhorst, Andrew Kumpf, McKinley Stewart, Raygar Minton, Hunter Moffatt and Adam Barnhart. The group was coached by fellow seniors Carley Higgins, Abby Tapp, Lily Stroud, Stella Windhorst, Gracie Brown, Faith Gammon and Ella Spires.
The Freshman Class was represented by Klay Turner, Justin Thornton, Dawson Guidry, Blaze Knapp, Colton
Henderson, Gunner Smith and Trey Robbins. Allie Kumpf coached the freshman.
In the first game, the seniors defeated the freshman 25-16.
“A great way to finish our last Macho Man was going out with a win,” said senior Andrew Kumpf.
The Junior Class took on the Sophomore Class in the second game and defeated them 26-24.
The Junior Class was made up of Brian Fullington, Coy Busick, Peyton Baker, Fletcher Cole, Jaxson Reynolds, Jeremiah Hutcheson, Carson Neal, Jonny Shellenburger, William Baker, Isaiah Apple, Ryley Butler, Ian Drake, Hayden Bostock, Josh Zapien and Jareth Nunez. They were coached by fellow juniors Lilly Hall, Jerzie Crane, Chloe Smith and Keilea Moore.
Cooper Spires, Kade Walls, Chad Sullivan, Tyler Hannon, Tim Husemeyer, Colton Baechle, Kirkland Hughes, Charlie Higgins, Aidan Hickman and Dominic Garcia represented the Sophomore Class. They were coached by Tori Patton, Abby Poe, Maddie Vernon and Tariana Burkhead.
“I enjoyed getting to dress up and playing with my friends,” said sophomore Cooper Spires.
The Championship game had the seniors and juniors facing off for the title, with the seniors winning again 25-22. This is the second year the class of 2024 has won Macho Man.
After the seniors defeated the juniors, they moved on to play the Staff Team, which consisted of Ashton Minton, Maddie Minton, Jarod Speer, Autumn Bosley, Jeremy Reynolds, Leah Baker, Summer Hudleson and Katie Kumpf. The seniors beat the Staff Team 27-25.
