From December 1 to December 14, Opaa! will be offering a free cookie to staff and students at Throop and PHS as part of the 12 Days of Cookies. Anyone wanting a sweet treat during those days is welcome to get a free cookie from the school cafeteria.
“Everyone is welcome, even if kids bring their lunches, Opaa! would still like to gift them a free cookie,” said Director of Nutrition Services Shelby Sloan.
The 12 Days of Cookies is a way OPAA would like to spoil the students and staff. There will be a variety of cookies, including chocolate chip and apple pie, as well as many others.
“You’ll be seeing some things like our apple pie cookie, our wonderful chocolate chip cookie. You’ll also see some French sugar cookies coming around. I plan on working a potential fruit pebble cookie into the next side of the recipe of my own, a no-bake cookie, just different cookies all the way around, anywhere from a lemon crinkle all the way to different kinds of sugar cookies,” said Sloan.
The cafeteria staff plans to prepare about 1,500 cookies a day.
“The girls and myself are looking at preparing around 1,500 cookies a day, and if we have more turnout, then we’ll make more. It’s just depending upon how many staff. But we’re thinking about 1,500 cookies a day, five days a week, you do the math, that’s a lot of cookies,” said Sloan.
