The No-Shave November fundraiser at PHS has wrapped up, and it was a big success. SRO Jon Deaton and a group of seniors had their heads shaved to raise money for St. Jude Hospital in front of the student body at the December Early Release Day. The event took place in the auditorium. The school raised $1330 in donations. Throughout November, donation buckets were set up around the school so students and staff could give money. The students who raised the most money earned the honor of shaving the seniors’ heads in front of everyone, which made for a funny, memorable event.
This was the second year for the No Shave event, coordinated by Deaton.
The seniors who decided to shave their heads for the cause were Aden Crowder, Chad Sullivan, Charlie Higgins, Jaxton Deaton, and Keegan Cox. Charlie Higgins went a step further and also donated his hair to charity after it was shaved off.
“I think it’s fantastic he went above and beyond raising money and doubled up on his charity work,” said Deaton.
Deaton believes events like this teach the importance of giving back.
“We need to continue coming together, to do what we can to help the people in need as much as we can,” said Deaton.
Raising money for St. Jude Hospital was the main goal, and the whole school came together to help out. The event showed how PHS students and staff can have fun while also making a difference for others in need.
