The PHS Talent Show has typically been held on the first early-release day in January; however, this year it was moved back. The move was communicated to Talent Show Organizer Chris Lindley.
“(Principal) Stroud was concerned that there were only three asynchronous days, and we might use them up without any opportunity to practice what synchronous means,” said Lindley.
On January 7, instead of watching students perform, students learned about the two different kinds of E-Learning. The first type to be used is asynchronous E-Learning, which allows students to complete their assignments at any time of day and have them count toward their attendance and grade. Synchronous E-Learning means students must meet at a set time on Google Meet to be counted as attending. Any school days that are cancelled from here on out will begin as asynchronous E-Learning Days.
The Talent Show has been rescheduled to the early-release day, March 4. February’s early release day will remain as the Life Hacks workshops. Lindley will reopen the form for students to apply to the Talent Show.
The Talent Show can accommodate about 10 acts within the time allotted for the early release day, but more than 15 students have already applied to be part of the show. To slim down the numbers, Lindley has decided to add something new to the Talent Show this year.
“We have more than enough kids for the show to take place but we can’t fit them all into the time we have for the show so we will be having auditions,” said Lindley.
As of now, Lindley has not sent out any information about the show’s auditions, other than that he will bring in judges to decide who makes the final cut.
