A new leadership opportunity is coming to Paoli, and it’s all about kindness, inclusion, and helping others feel supported.
Team Peace, a local nonprofit organization that teaches students how their brains work and how to handle big emotions, is launching an Ambassador Program at our school. Applications are open for students in 2nd-8th grade who want to make a difference.
So what does a Team Peace Ambassador do? Ambassadors spread the word about Team Peace and share how the organization has helped them manage stress, build better relationships, and face challenges. They complete monthly challenges, such as interviewing trusted adults, creating videos, or designing posters about their favorite coping strategies.
“We’re looking for students who care about kindness, inclusion, and helping others,” said Kara Schmidt, Team Peace coordinator. “You don’t have to be ‘perfect’ or have everything figured out—just a willingness to learn, lead by example, and be someone who helps create a positive school environment. Leadership here means leading with empathy, respect, and courage.”
Accepted ambassadors receive a t-shirt, a lanyard, special pins for each completed challenge, and chances to win prizes. They’ll also attend monthly meetings at school with a special breakfast or lunch provided.
Applications are due April 17. Students in 2nd and 3rd grade should submit their applications to Mrs. Mullinax, while 4th and 5th graders should submit their applications to Mrs. Asbell. Junior high and high school students are welcome too. Contact Schmidt at [email protected] for more information. Acceptance notifications go out on April 24.
