In January, many band students across Indiana participated in a very competitive audition at several locations across the state. Almost 900 students auditioned, with 154 of them being selected to move on to All State Band held at Purdue.
Two of the 154 students advancing across Indiana are PHS’s very own, Junior Breanna Ward and Freshman Krista Tedrow.
“These students have successfully auditioned and placed into the 2017 Indiana All-State Band. This is the highest and most competitive of instrumental ensembles to participate in (much like the Indiana All-Star Basketball team),” said Band Director Bill Laughlin.
Ward and Tedrow will spend the weekend of March 10-12 on Purdue University’s campus. The grand finale concert will be on the 12th at 2:30 p.m. at the Elliott Hall of Music. The concert is open to the public and free of charge.
Ward is very excited to see how the concert turns out.
“It takes great courage to even audition for the weekend. Every single person who went showed tremendous ability in their music. I’m sure it is very tough for all of the judges to distinguish between all state honor band personal, all state band personal, and people they couldn’t take within the bands,” said Ward.
Come out and support the students participating in All-State Band.
