Over the past weekend, a group of high school band students participated in the IBA All-District Honor Band. The students who participated were freshmen Haylee Mathis, Marshall Fahey,

and Mirra Wise, sophomores Andrea Pennington, Oliver Albertson, and Viola Bender, junior Nathaniel Dixon, and senior Tylor Drzewiecki. The students traveled to BNL High School in Bedford to attend a concert.
The IBA All-District Honor Band is a prestigious opportunity for students from all over Southern Indiana to play at a concert where their talent and skill can be showcased to an audience. Students are selected by filling out an application at the beginning of the school year, and IBA officials select the students based on their application and individual achievements.
“I am so proud that these students can participate in a large-scale concert with 100 students from all across Southern Indiana,” said Band Director Chris Karkosky.
The band students are now preparing for the solo and ensemble contest, and as a group, the band will next perform at the December 14 Holiday Concert. The concert will begin at 2 p.m.
