This spring’s Drama Club production of “Singin’ In The Rain” was held March 26-28 in the Uyesugi Auditorium. The production sold 200 tickets with a cast of 30 students.
The main cast for this musical were senior Cannon Lambdin as Don Lockwood, senior Trinity Turner as Kathy Selden, freshman Ruse Nichols as Lina Lamont, and sophomore Havoc Nichols as Cosmo Brown.
“I love this show, so that made it fun to work on, but I mostly enjoyed watching students build on their talents while also building relationships. It was also fun with this show to work with several
alumni who really put in a lot of dedication to make things happen,” said Director Maria Wishart.
Even though the show did not sell as many tickets as in previous years, Wishart was still very happy with the production.
“I was really happy with the performances overall, but I was particularly happy with the production process. Attendance at rehearsals was good, people were pleasant, people stepped up to solve
problems, and I think we all enjoyed the process,” said Wishart.
For senior Cannon Lambdin, it marks his final production with the PHS Drama Club.
“What I’ll take away from Drama is that you must put yourself out there, build solid relationships, and own your part. We each have unique, God-given gifts; but the question is, will you use them? Will you hide them away when things get hard, or will you choose to sing in the rain,” said Lambdin.
Fellow senior Trinity Turner will also say farewell to the stage after his production, her second with Paoli. Turner previously performed at New Albany High School as a part of their Drama department.
“Throughout my experience in Drama, the most important thing I have learned is that the show must go on. No matter how rough or wrong the show goes, it will always continue. Same way with life, no matter how much you go through or how many things will eventually harm you or change for the worse, life will still continue to go on, and it’s your choice to determine your attitude about it,” said Turner.
Even though this was the final big production of the year, the drama club still has a few projects in the upcoming months.
“We have some smaller projects this spring. We have a student who wrote a short play, and we will probably do that performance as a video and posted on our YouTube channel. We also plan to have some workshops, focused on singing, acting, dancing, and tech work. We also plan to do some improv activities, and we’ll get production ideas for next year,” said Wishart.
