Do you enjoy playing euchre and think you are amazing at it? Why not test your luck!
The Games Club is hosting the annual euchre tournament for any students and staff who are interested in participating. There is a $5 entry fee for anyone who intends to participate. There will be a payout to the top 3 teams. Sign up with Games Club Sponsor Chris Lindley by Thursday, February 19, in Room 110.
“Games Club has been hosting a euchre tournament for several years. Euchre is a popular card game here in the Midwest, deeply entrenched in our cultural fabric. It is a multi-generational game that many people have played with their families. I grew up playing euchre at holidays and family card parties, as I know several students have. Like a lot of partnership card games, euchre not only involves strategy but the fun of socialization,” said Lindley.
The tournament will be held in the cafeteria during homeroom. The tournament will possibly take place next Friday, February 20. This is because sign-ups are cut off by Thursday, so there is time to set up brackets for the event.
The tournament will be played as a single elimination to determine the winning team. This is because the double-elimination model takes up too much of our time at school. Last year’s euchre tournament lasted longer than expected due to it being a double-elimination style.
The winners were seniors Aurora Hays and Chad Sullivan.
The euchre tournament was revived in 2023 after a few years off. This tournament allows students to enjoy the game of euchre and compete against other students and staff. If this sparks your interest, meet with Lindley today.
