“Home Alone” is a classic holiday movie that never gets old. The movie was released in 1990 and directed by Chris Columbus. The film was nominated for two Golden Globe Awards.
The story follows Kevin McCallister, played by Macaulay Culkin, an 8-year-old boy who accidentally gets left behind when his huge family rushes off for Christmas vacation. At first, Kevin enjoys having the house to himself. Kevin is thrilled because there are no rules, no siblings, and total freedom. He eats whatever he wants, watches movies parents wouldn’t normally allow, and feels proud of being independent. Soon, he starts to miss his family and realizes that being alone isn’t as fun as he expected.
Things get chaotic when two burglars, Harry Lyme played by Joe Pesci, and Marv Murchins played by Daniel Stern decide his house is their next target, and Kevin has to defend it using the most creative and hilarious traps ever. His tricks confuse and slow down the burglars, giving him time to get help.
When Kevin’s family returns home, they are all happy to be back together and realize how much they mean to one another.
I recommend this movie because it is a holiday classic that many families watch every year during Christmas. The movie has lots of moments that make you laugh. The movie mixes comedy and heart really well. Kevin shows that even though he’s a kid, he can still be brave and clever. The movie also teaches a valuable lesson about family and the importance of appreciating the people you love.
