On December 31, 2025, Superintendent Greg Walker will begin his retirement after 11 years, seven of which were at Paoli Schools, and four years at Brownstown Central Community Schools. Before becoming superintendent, he held multiple positions in education. Walker taught for 11 years, then served as a high school assistant principal for seven years, and as a middle school principal for four years.
During his career as superintendent, Walker has spent countless hours making decisions about the school corporation, working around the clock with members of the community to make decisions to better the schools. He also fills in as a substitute bus driver when he is needed.
Because Walker is retiring, PHS Principal Ed Wagner has been hired to take that role. He will assume all of the responsibilities of the position, and has been learning and preparing to make the transition. He has done the necessary training with Walker to make the transition as smooth as possible for everyone.
After retirement, Walker is planning on doing a few things to fill his time. Although he is going to rest and lower his workload, he will still be taking time to do some school budget consulting and also working as a business development associate. He will also continue to be a substitute bus driver as he is needed for Paoli.
On Wednesday, December 10, a celebration was held to honor Walker’s career as superintendent in the high school auditorium lobby from 3:30 to 6 p.m. The event was planned to celebrate Walker and what he has done for our school and the community.
“After 33 years, I am ready for a change and am looking forward to the next chapter in my life. I am sure I will miss interacting with the students,” said Walker.
Walker was great at connecting with his staff both on a personal and a professional level.
“Mr. Walker’s mentorship and leadership have meant a great deal to me, as well as to many others across the state. His knowledge of school budgets
and finance is truly outstanding, and when he came to Paoli, he did an amazing job getting our corporation — and keeping our corporation — in an excellent financial position. His impact will be felt here for many years to come,” said Wagner.
Wagner also commented on the personal connection they formed.
“Beyond the school side of our relationship, he’s become a great friend. He’s someone you can trust, and his down-to-earth personality and quick humor have made our years working together truly enjoyable. I wish him nothing but the best as he moves on to the next chapter of his life,” said Wagner.
