Whenever I tell people about my love for Twin Peaks, most people will assume I mean a restaurant. However, those who don’t know about the 1990’s tv show directed by David Lynch are sorely missing out.
Twin Peaks details the story of FBI special agent Dale Cooper, and his search for the killer of teenage girl Laura Palmer; however, in getting involved in this case, he suddenly finds himself in way over his head. Twin Peaks is one of the most confusing pieces of media I have ever consumed; however, it continues to be my favorite. I think the fact that almost all of what happens in this show is up to viewer interpretation is what makes it so incredible. Not to mention the symbolism throughout the show. I’ve never seen any piece of media in my life that is as detail-oriented as Twin Peaks.
Seasons one and two were released in 1990. However, season three was released in 2017. 27 years later. Many might think 27 years between seasons is way too long, viewers won’t even be interested, and there’s no way to make a show that can still connect with 27 years of space. But David Lynch proves every single one of these wrong. Season three of Twin Peaks is arguably the best in the entire show. While it can be extremely confusing, it truly makes the viewer think.
I first watched Twin Peaks when I was in fourth grade, and I am currently rewatching it, and with rewatching, I feel that I understand the show and its meaning so much more. I believe anyone who has a passion for good movies and tv shows needs to watch Twin Peaks. I would also recommend rewatching if you get the chance. This is the type of show that you will notice something new every time you watch it.
