On March 26, 2026, the PHS drama club will be performing another musical in the high school auditorium. This musical will be “Singing in the Rain, the musical.” This will be their third performance this school year.
“Singing in the Rain” is a musical that focuses on the chaotic transition from the 1920’s Hollywood silent to talking films, focusing on the silent star Don Lockwood, his counterpart Lina Lamont, who is terrible at singing, and aspiring actor Kathy Selden. In this musical, they have a movie that needs a female voice, which Lamont fills, and this leads to a romance between Lamont and Lockwood. When Lamont can’t sing, Selden voices-over her in the movie, but that fraud gets exposed at the premiere, where Lockwood shows that Selden is the real voice of the movie.
Drama Club sponsor Maria Wishart held auditions for this musical on Wednesday, January 21, and Thursday, January 22. The auditions went well, and they have made up a cast list to begin preparations for this musical. While they have the main characters, they are adding the finishing touches to the singing-dancing ensemble.
The main cast for this musical are Cannon Lambdin as Don Lockwood, Ruse Nichols as Lina Lamont, Trinity Turner as Kathy Selden, and Havoc Nichols as Cosmo Brown.
The showings for this will be March 26, 27, and 28, starting at 7 p.m. The cost to buy a ticket is $6, and anyone can go and watch. Before the start and during intermission, there will be goodies sold in the auditorium lobby.
“This is a classic show that has stood the test of time. It came out in 1952, but it still feels fun and fresh and will be a great theatrical experience for the audience and the performers,” said Wishart.
