On Sunday, April 19, the students in AP U.S. History will hold the annual Night at the Museum in the PHS cafeteria. This year’s theme is “Voices and Votes.” The show will cover stories of American individuals or movements that have increased people’s “voice,” that is, their ability to express their personalities and views, or that have increased voting rights for people who were once excluded or limited in voting.
The public will be invited to view the exhibits between 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. Awards will be announced around 5 p.m. There will be 26 student-created exhibits for this year’s show. Each exhibit will be judged by a panel, and winners will be selected based on criteria set by U.S. History teacher Chris Lindley.
“What is particularly exciting is that this show is partnering with a traveling Smithsonian exhibit that is coming to Orange County next month. Our theme came from its title, “Voices and Votes.” Starting May 16 through the end of June, it will be displayed in the French Lick West Baden Visitors Center. The top exhibits from our show will join this national exhibit, which is quite an honor for these students,” said Lindley.
This show is open to all, and visitors can vote for their favorite projects for a People’s Choice Award.
