Kurt Walls graduated from PHS in the year of 1996. Walls was starting point guard on the Paoli Basketball team and the starting running back for the football team. He was all PLAC for two years in football and was fifth in the state for steals in basketball his senior year.
Walls was also awarded homecoming king his senior year. His favorite memory from PHS would have been hanging out with his friends.
“My friends and I sure were crazy, that’s for sure. I do regret some of the things I did and some of the friends I had,” says Walls.
Another regret Walls has from his high school days would be not being involved in clubs and organizations. He wishes he would have done more besides all the sports he was involved in.
If Walls could go back to high school and do something differently, he would have worked harder athletically, then that would have given him the chance to go off and play college basketball somewhere. His advice to high school kids today is to get involved in things while they can, because after you pass them up, you can’t go back and redo it.
Walls grew up with a rough childhood. He remembers on Christmas’s him and his brothers would get a pack of socks to split, and they were thankful for that. But that didn’t stop him from trying to do well in school and sports. He was determined his past would not set his future reputation.
“No matter who you are and where you come from, you can accomplish whatever you want through hard work and dedication,” said Walls.
Walls went to college and got a degree in Sports Management, and also has a Business Minor. He is now a project manager for Paoli Furniture, but since they are closing, he is seeking employment as the town general foreman.
Walls has three kids; a two year old named Easton, a nine year old named Kade, and a 13 year old named Gracie. To follow with his Sports Management degree, he was the junior high girls basketball coach for the 2016-2017 year, and coaches a second and third grade boys basketball team also at Paoli.
